A Tour of UW Platteville Engineering Department
We had the opportunity to tour UW-Platteville’s College of Engineering and meet its department chairs, and we were extremely impressed. UW-Platteville offers eight ABET-accredited engineering programs that emphasize firsthand learning: civil, computer, electrical, engineering physics, environmental, industrial, mechanical, and software engineering. The university also has strong engineering partnerships that give students access to multiple partner locations. Its new $55 million, 200,000-square-foot facility opened in 2022 and includes the 20,000-square-foot Huff Family Innovation Center, a state-of-the-art makerspace designed to foster collaboration and firsthand learning. The facility is equipped with 3-D printing, metalworking, woodworking, textiles, and video production. The facility has modern teaching laboratories, classrooms, and facility offices, bridging engineering, and computer science programs.
The University of Wisconsin Platteville is particularly good practical engineering with a one-on-one hand on curriculum, strong return on investment, a very affordable program, with exceptional job placement rates.
